Facilities

  • The SRL mine site has a fully staffed and equipped hospital which is funded by the Company and provide free healthcare for employees and their dependents.
  • Our clinic treats approximately 2,000 people a month and the Company runs additional weekly clinics in local communities to provide basic and emergency public healthcare.
  • The Company reduced total lost time injuries by 17% in 2009, and remains committed to further improving its safety performance.

HIV/Aids

Our programmes to address the prevention of HIV/AIDS are ongoing, and we continue to support our successful partnership with NGOs, the Mine Workers Union and the National AIDS Secretariat of Sierra Leone.  Our health personnel are trained to conduct voluntary testing, counselling and to administer antiretroviral drugs.
