Sembehun Project

Strategic mining operations delivering sustainable value

Sembehun Project

Our flagship operation in Sierra Leone, the Sembehun Project represents world-class mineral sands mining at its finest. With proven reserves and state-of-the-art processing facilities, this expansion project will anchor our production portfolio.

The Sembehun Project is one of the world’s largest and highest-grade natural rutile deposits, located approximately 30 km from Sierra Rutile’s existing Area 1 operations in southern Sierra Leone.

A Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) has confirmed that, once funded and constructed, Sembehun will significantly extend the company’s mine life, leverage existing infrastructure, and generate long-term value through sustained rutile production, strengthening Sierra Rutile’s role in global titanium mineral supply

Indicative Timeline

Sierra Rutile’s approach aims to see the development of Sembehun integrated with the remaining operations at Area 1.

Note: Sierra Rutile is working towards being in a position to make a final investment decision in 2023 which would allow Sierra Rutile to target the commencement of Phase 1 Sembehun production within 24 months. This timeline is indicative and may be subject to change including due to matters outside Sierra Rutile’s control
