Sierra Rutile Limited (SRL) was proud to participate in this year’s Sierra Leone Mining Week, joining industry leaders, policymakers, investors and other stakeholders in important conversations on the theme: “Our Mineral Resources: Responsible Mining, Value Multiplication and Shared Prosperity.” The event, held in Freetown, also featured the 11th Ordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the African Diamond Producers Association (ADPA), bringing together government leaders from Sierra Leone and across Africa.
Sierra Leone’s Honourable Vice President, Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, delivered the keynote address at the event and officially launched the Sierra Leone National Strategy for Critical Minerals 2026–2031, one of Sierra Leone’s most ambitious mining roadmaps aimed at transforming the country into one of the world’s leading sources and producers of critical minerals. Another key highlight of the event was the launch of the Community Development Management Information System (CoDMIS) by the Ministry of Mines and Mineral Resources and the National Minerals Agency (NMA), during which SRL was recognized as the top surface rent payer. This recognition underscores the company’s longstanding commitment to responsible mining practices and meaningful contributions to host communities.
SRL’s presence at Mining Week was further marked by the visit of the Vice President and Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources, Honourable Julius Daniel Mattai, to the company’s exhibition booth, as well as SRL’s support of the Ministerial Lounge as a Platinum Sponsor. The company also contributed to critical industry discussions through our CEO, Lima Sufian-Kargbo’s, participation in the panel on “Financing Sierra Leone’s Mining Sector: Beyond the Traditional Model” and Hussine Yilla’s contribution to the discussion on “Women in Mining: Beyond Tokenism to Structural Change.”
